This is indeed a cogent essay, moving effortlessly between the abstract and the concrete. It is also alarming from a global south/multipolarity point of view. Alas, try as I might, I foresee no alternative to a war in Central Asia; no alternative to the creation of a formal tripartite military alliance between Russia, China and Iran, which more than likely will be forced to launch a preemptive (nuclear) attack on the ‘Stans’, but Türkiye in particular - and thenceforth to NATO, and the world. This would be Mackinder come true. If nothing else, Laura, you’ve driven many to the bottle and shaken more into sobriety.

Thank you Laura, this is an excellent description of the web of intrigues enveloping Azerbaijan. Perhaps Aliyev's faction can keep him secure, perhaps not if the Russian expulsions of Azerbaijan mafia can be sustained and focussed. There is absolutely no doubt that the englanders and their fellow travellers will never stop interfering in some other country to ensure their god given right to plunder. I have passed the link on to other fora to consider.
